Up at my Mum’s for a few days, I have but a simple and brief offering today: a vase of daffodils, plucked from a bed normally overgrown with reeds and hogweed where they are currently the only visible occupants. Not surprisingly, as you may guess from the brightness of the sky in the photograph, the buds were all fully open by the end of the day in the brilliant Easter sunshine we enjoyed on Sunday. Brilliant sunshine, but still only a few degrees of warmth outside
When the sun shines here the skies are wonderful and there is just so much of them. Feast your eyes on a few of these beauties if you will (the land mass on the horizon is the island of Mull):
Looking down at the ground instead of up at those Big Skies found this enigma: why had this date been inscribed into the black sand on this scrap of beach? Is there a wedding to be celebrated, or the birth of a child to be anticipated? Or maybe it is a sad rather than a happy date, the inscription of which will be washed away by the tide like death washes away our loved ones in due course…
We shall never know, and as yet I don’t know what you will be putting in your Monday vases this week. I will certainly try to visit all your blogs to see them but may not have time to comment, nor reply to all your comments on this post, but I shall do what I can. Normal IAVOM thoroughness will resume again shortly and I know you will forgive me for my laxness this week: Happy Easter break everyone!

Oh what perfect timing Cathy – what fabulous blue skies and scenery. A visit to that part of the country is on my bucket list. A fascinating inscription on the sand – Professor Google advises that there is a total lunar eclipse on that date but as you suggest it could refer to all manner of events 🙂 I hope that you have found your Mum well and that you enjoy your trip. A perfect simple Easter vase. And what a spectacular view and one I would love even if a bit chilly especially the sea and sky….it was a cold (35 degree) day here yesterday with snow in the morning, but I managed a vase although not out of my garden.

The daffodils are lovely, and so is the scenery! Our sky is also a stunning blue this time of year, but since we still have snow the bright spring sunshine can be almost blinding! I have no outdoor blooms to offer yet, but perhaps next week I’ll show you the progress of my little window garden. 🙂

Cathy, I’m glad you’re with your Mother. The photos are magnificent. The landscape is marvellous. The blue sky meets the water. The sunset is really beautiful. The vase with the Daffodils is simple but something more ornate would not fit well with Nature, it is a pure state where the vase that surrounds me is located.
