This is a lovely photo Cathy. I didn’t realize you grew so many different dahlias. They look wonderful all together! What is the red one towards the back? Thanks for joining in Cathy. 😃🤗
I have just brought them inside today to dry out pproperly, so can tell you that there are 14 different varieties, almost all growing in the two beds in the photo. One ot two will be passed on next year, and different varieties added instead
Oh, and the red one is Geoffrey Kent, from a cutting given to me from a near neighbour of my Mum’s
I just searched for that dahlia on google images and would you believe it the first two photos are of your vase in September! 😃👍
Haha! 😀
What a lush display! And so upright!! Were these supported, Cathy?
Well, they each have a grow-through support but these are only useful in the early stages and I am very lax with staking later in the season and tend to get broken stems – must try harder!!
What a dramatic display they make clustered together like that, Cathy! The variation in their foliage color is also a nice touch.
Thanks Kris – I have a few dark leaved ones so I try to spread them out amongst the others. There are 6 in both of the beds and the sweet peas would be in the same beds on supports at the right hand side of them
So glad that the Dahlias came back to give you a good display.
The were just slow this year, Amber, after a good start
Mine are in their pots in the lean-to greenhouse and I am just hoping they come back next year. Such fuss free rewarding plants to grow.
I have some in pots too – as you say, they are such rewarding plants to grow as they keep on giving
