  1. Seeds and buds are always exciting for what they portend. Happy WW!

I couldn’t think of an appropriate title, so just stayed literal -this witch hazel is astonishingly full of buds and seedheads, and in fact all my witch hazels except those more in the shade have more buds than ever before. It must be weather related, although I would have though they would need moisture in the summer to boost bud production…

  2. I agree … exciting!

    • Cathy says:

Almost all muy witch hazels are smothered in buds, and most have lots of seedheads too. I am actually going to try sowing some seeds this year – have collected some from tis one already but will check the others. They split open when they are ripe but supposedly shoot the seeds out, so it is a matter of spotting them just before they do this I suppose!

  3. I will need to go and look at mine (after it stops raining)!

    • Cathy says:

Despite the summer drought, most of mine are covered in buds, and the one that lost its leaves altogether has a fresh crop of them!
