Among the faded flowers, there are still some divine dahlias in perfect condition. It is Autumn that is coming !! Some plants die and others are reborn. Cathy happy gardening. Very affectionate greetings from Margarita.
Sadly no, there weren’t, and they are all cut back now, waiting to be lifted and stored over winter
Cathy the photo my eyes deceived me. That when you pick up the dahlias it is not too hard work. Very affectionate greetings from Margarita.
Kinda droopy but just remember the glory that it was and will be again.
Oh most definitely – after 5 months of blooms it would be churlish to complain!!
Time to dig and store! It took me about 4 hours to dig, wash, sort and store mine today. I’ve read that dahlia tubers are edible, like jicama. Have you ever tried one?
I think that’s what they first arrived in the UK as, a potential food source – can’t say I have tried them and I would most definitely rather have the blooms and eat potatoes instead! I will get on with some other seasonal tasks before I lift mine, unless we have another frost forecast
Yes, it looks familiar. Autumn transitions… Time for winter, I guess. And then spring again!
Yes, it won’t be long, not in the overall scheme of things
