In a Vase on Monday: Feeling Flush

After thinking that roses were not playing ball this year and providing a second flush, the belated additional blooms on Danse de Feu and Parkdirektor Riggers have suddenly been joined by a flush of pinkness on Zéphirine Drouhin. A clutch of these pretty roses formed the basis of today’s vase, their pinkness almost overwhelmed by a single bloom of Dahlia ‘Karma Fuchsiana’, stems of Sedum ‘ Stewed Rhubarb Mountain’ and  Lathyrus grandiflorus (the everlasting pea) ‘Red Pearl’ and some young heads of Ammi visnaga.

Raiding the Golfer’s Scottish banknote collection for his largest denomination note provided the £50 prop for the vase which was joined, in the absence of a piggy bank, by a tiny purse. Perhaps appropriately for my proposed plant purchase abstention, the note has been returned to its original place in his collection. The vase is a vintage Price Bros storage jar, designed to hold Bicarbonate of Soda, and been has used once before in a very early vase.

Having just come back from visiting Elder Daughter and the Poppet we are off on our jaunts again today, perhaps meeting a blogger or two or three on the way.
