After thinking that roses were not playing ball this year and providing a second flush, the belated additional blooms on Danse de Feu and Parkdirektor Riggers have suddenly been joined by a flush of pinkness on Zéphirine Drouhin. A clutch of these pretty roses formed the basis of today’s vase, their pinkness almost overwhelmed by a single bloom of Dahlia ‘Karma Fuchsiana’, stems of Sedum ‘ Stewed Rhubarb Mountain’ and Lathyrus grandiflorus (the everlasting pea) ‘Red Pearl’ and some young heads of Ammi visnaga.
Raiding the Golfer’s Scottish banknote collection for his largest denomination note provided the £50 prop for the vase which was joined, in the absence of a piggy bank, by a tiny purse. Perhaps appropriately for my proposed plant purchase abstention, the note has been returned to its original place in his collection. The vase is a vintage Price Bros storage jar, designed to hold Bicarbonate of Soda, and been has used once before in a very early vase.
Having just come back from visiting Elder Daughter and the Poppet we are off on our jaunts again today, perhaps meeting a blogger or two or three on the way. I will enjoy reading all your comments later but forgive me if I don’t reply to them all this time. Please still leave links to your own lovely vases as usual and I will catch up on them later in the week.
Lovely colours, Cathy! Happy Monday! This is my (early morning) vase:http://timpingradina.blogspot.ro/2015/09/in-vase-on-monday-remains-of-summer.html
Wow, that is a bright vase of flowers, Cathy. That Dahlia is nearly neon in color, and looks great with ZD. My ZD is probably not finished either but taking a breather. The sweet peas really add some frill, and the Sedum is really frothy. They are all quite opulent, worthy of the 50lb note. I’m wondering who will win the wager, I would lose.

The slightly clashing colour of the Dahlia really makes the other colours ‘pop’ – clever! Here’s my link for today: https://myhesperidesgarden.wordpress.com/2015/09/07/in-a-vase-on-monday-the-show-goes-on/
Have a great few days and thanks for hosting.I hope Italy is going to figure in one of your jaunts soon, thanks for hosting.

I love those colours and the sedum is quite a pretty one too. I’ve been enjoying your vases all summer Cathy, and am now back to blogging (fairly) regularly I hope, so here’s my link for my vase today. Thanks and have a lovely time on your travels this week!
That dahlia is on my Want list now. ‘Karma Fuchsiana’ is such a good name too. Lovely strong pinks. Here in NZ it’s the opposite end of the year so here are my Spring flowers.
Glad the roses treated you to another display. Their companion dahlia has amazing color. Hope you have a fun trip. My vase is

Once again you have produced a fabulous vase this week. So glad your roses spoke up again. My vase is https://johnsviccellio.wordpress.com/2015/09/07/in-a-vase-on-monday-crape-myrtles/
I absolutely adore the jar you are using and how wonderful you have a second flush of beautiful roses starring in your arrangement. Ours are coming around again, and once it cools, I expect to see more roses to use in the fall vases!
I love that vintage jar! We have both chosen Dahlias and Ammi visnaga this week, but the colour of your Dahlia is far more stunning. Here is my link https://annieedwardsphotography.wordpress.com/2015/09/07/in-a-vase-on-monday-velvety-glamour/
Very beautiful, and heartening to have such color this late in summer. Thanks for sharing it! -Beth
A gorgeous pink offering from you today, Cathy. The dahlia is stunning and I do like the vintage storage jar which makes a perfect vase. Enjoy your jaunt – hope the weather is on your side where you are going. I’ve not been around for a while so I’m making up for my absence today – http://silverscrappers.blogspot.co.uk/2015/09/in-vase-on-monday-times-three.html
Very pretty, Cathy, esp. the ‘lit within’ dahlia ‘Karma Fuchsiana’, which looks almost flame-like with the lighter color at its center. Seeing everyone’s beautiful dahlias gives me dahlia-envy! 😉 Here’s my vase this week: Going Native! http://wp.me/p3O3z4-Mf

That Dahlia is spectacular! Enjoy your jaunts, Cathy. Here’s my contribution this week: http://krispgarden.blogspot.com/2015/09/in-vase-on-monday-back-in-pink-again.html
I don’t know how you do it Cathy. Every week you come up with something different. I love the blend of flower colours in today’s jar. It’s always good to see what you come up with and you never disappoint. I’m running out of steam but decided taking part was the important thing. Here’s my link:
Beautiful warm colors for what is, in my neck of the woods, a bit of a cool day! Your props always make your arrangements even more interesting. Thanks for hosting IAVOM and for sharing your wonderful creativity and talent! My offering this week can be found here: http://outlawgarden.blogspot.com/2015/09/in-vase-on-monday-summer-souvenirs.html
Gorgeous colors. I am still amazed that you have sweet peas this time of year. Just wouldn’t happen around here.
These are everlasting sweet peas Lisa and last longer but I do have some annual ones still flowering too, which is more unusual for early Sept

What? You’re actually using a container for a second time? I was wondering if you would ever run out of fresh vases. You will never run out of imagination: of that I am sure. Here’s mine: http://bannersbyricki.com/archives/4933

The fabulousness of your flowers are upstaged only by their names… Zéphirine Drouhin? Wow! Parkdirektor Riggers? Splendid! And Stewed Rhubarb Mountain? Beats them all! Makes the name ‘Red Pearl’ sound almost dull.
Anyway, I’m extremely glad to be back with a vase after a wee break…. here’s mine: https://edinburghgardendiary.wordpress.com/2015/09/07/in-a-vase-on-monday-let-there-be-sweetpeas/
Absolutely STUNNING!
Such lovely roses Cathy & I am pleased to read that you have returned that note to its rightful place. I am sorry I have not joined in today – all sorts of things happened that got i the way of writing a blog post – I will be back next week. Enjoy your jaunts!!
That’s Summer in a vase, delightful pinks contrasting beautifully with the green on your vintage vase. My roses are coming back as well but I am saving them. My vase is showing shades of white this week https://digwithdorris.wordpress.com/2015/09/07/in-a-vase-on-Monday-white

Love the mixed pinks and purples, Cathy! I am hoping to get a full flush from my roses soon as the heat is beginning to break just a little! In the meantime, having plenty of some reliable smaller blooms, I pulled together an idea I’ve wanted to use for a long time – two ideas, in fact: http://smallsunnygarden.blogspot.com/2015/09/monday-vase-tiny-crowd.html
Hope you enjoy your outings!
I love the bold beautiful colors that went into your bouquet…A wonderful way for me to start my day.
Are your lovely blooms the portent of the Indian Summer we have been promised? I too chose roses, which I posted in haste on Sunday, but have now made the link to yours. http://noellemace.blogspot.co.uk/2015/09/in-vase-on-monday-roses-are-red.html
