Beautiful Cathy and lots more to come. I still have no buds opened on mine so I will just have to enjoy yours. A very happy Christmas to you and the Golfer.
Oh thanks Anna – I do think about you from time to time and wonder how you and your little bean are. Hope all is going well and that you all had a lovely Christmas 🙂
I really enjoyed your posts over this past year and look forward to sharing your thoughts in 2015. Have a very Merry Christmas and enjoy the New Year…May each day bring you special moments.
What a nice Christmas surprise! Thanks for a great blogging year, there’s always something new and interesting to be found on your rambles and it’s always enjoyable.
I wish there were some words of encouragement or threats you could pass on to my own h “pallida”, it’s taken two years off from blooming and is developing a reputation for laziness. Too much drought and sun I’m sure, but couldn’t it squeak out just a few blooms? At least I can look forward to your collection!
Yes Frank – and FIVE witch hazels flowering for Christmas, amn’t I the lucky one! I have to confess that Pallida was the last one I sneaked into the garden last year and I sort of hid it in the woodland edge border – but decided a week or two ago to allow it shine forth somewhere more prominent 😉 Yours sound like it needs a good kick up the … well, something!
Lovely!
Ans so early too 🙂
I’ve never seen anything like that!
Here’s my Wordless Wednesday!
Witch hazel is a winter flowering small tree – very pretty and sometimes scented
Cool macro.
Wonderful!
It is indeed Donna, and this isn’t the only one now
Lovely photo. They are wonderful plants for this time of year.
Oh yes, aren’t they just!

Aw thanks Chloris – Jelena and Orange Peel are both fully out too, a nice Christmas surprise and all very early 🙂
I imagine that is a most unexpected but most welcome Christmas present 🙂
Yes indeed, and no unwrapping necessary! Hope you and himself and your snowdrops have a lovely festive season 🙂
Merry Christmas! Sorry I’ve not been commenting for a long time! Too busy with the baby but I do still enjoy your blog 🙂

I planted H. ‘Early Bright’ last year and it is doing its thing far ahead of ‘Diana’. I love the subtle coloration of yours.
Thanks – I have to admit I do prefer the reds and oranges to the yellows – and Harry will always be my favourite 🙂
