After the Razzamatazz

razzamatazzRoses fade,
Their petals dropping
To form a
Scented carpet
On the ground.
Having welcomed
The sun
(with razzamatazz)
To open their buds
And proclaim
A glorious June,
They hanker now
For shade,
For gentle breezes,
For a long cool draught
To quench their thirst.
Today, at last, they
Drink deep,
For the rain
Has come.

Beautiful poem, Cathy, have a sunny weekend 🙂

    • Cathy says:

Thanks Annette – it stayed dried today when it mattered, so I don’t mind if we have more rain now! You too have a good w/e 🙂

    Beautifully written

  3. Cathy says:

That’s a lovely poem, and glad you got some rain… my garden had a shower or two, and we are hoping for more at the weekend!

    • Cathy says:

Some great claps of thunder yesterday afternoon and a good downpour, just what we needed:) Hope you have more rain too! Mind you, I have lots of raspberries and loganberries that need picking so a dry day here tomorrow would be useful after all….

  4. Chloris says:

A lovely poem. I wish the rain would come here. Everything is parched. We are promised some for the weekend but it often fizzles out before it reached us.

    • Cathy says:

Oh Chloris – I hope you do get your rain. Sometimes ours is very localised (we are at the top of a small hill and this must make a difference) but we had a good downpour yesterday, just what was needed 😉

  5. Pauline says:

Lovely words Cathy and yes, the rain is so welcome, the soil in the garden was bone dry and plants were beginning to wilt. We had a lot of rain yesterday and this morning, plants are looking happy once more and the water butts filling up which makes me happy too!

  6. Christina says:

Nice! After 3 days where rain was forecast 100% for most of the days, instead it has been hot. Sunny and humid. Have a great weekend Cathy

    • Cathy says:

Oh, such a shame, when you are expecting it and it fails to come – after all the hot and humid days it will be heavy when it come, I guess. Enjoy your w/e too, hopefully a wet one!

  7. Anna says:

I enjoyed your poem Cathy 🙂 Your roses will have appreciated all the wet stuff. Plenty of it here too – much needed but I hope that it stops soon so I can get to the allotment this afternoon.

    • Cathy says:

Thanks Anna. Hope you got your stint in at the allotment – I have more fruit to pick so hope can get that done tomorrow before we have more rain, much as I would otherwise like it! No doubt you have to things to pick down at the lottie.
