  1. I adore the wonderful effects of bark in the garden, and have a few examples myself, but not this one. An Acer, I believe? Is it classed as a snake-bark maple? Mine is Acer hersii, which has a green bark.

      Yes, Acer conspicuum and you will have realised from the next post that it was not in my garden! Your A hersii sounds nice – must look it up.
