Putting on a Cardigan

CIMG2196The sudden change
From golden warmth to
Cool damp beigeness
Goes not unnoticed.
The garden
Shrugs the drops
From her rounded Shoulders
And tidies her borders.
Casting a
Lingering look
Behind her
She opens her seasonal Wardrobe,
Looks out her thicker socks
And reluctantly
Puts on a
Cardigan.

The gardener has put on a cardigan too today Cathy. What a most attractive heuchera is ‘Cassandra’ resplendent in her autumnal shades.

    • Cathy says:

This gardener too! Looking at the photo of the heuchera I was reminded just how pretty it was. It always has a range of shades at this time of year and forms a huge clump – this must be about 30″ across, and it never goes leggy

Lovely poem there! I’ve noticed a change out there too. I have a similar heuchera, I love them!

    • Cathy says:

Thanks Anna – this heuchera is in a little bed at the base of an acer griseum so I try and restrict the heucheras in the bed to russetty colours, but ‘Cassandra’ is undoubtedly the best of them
