Yesterday, I Think

Yesterday,I thinkYesterday, I think,
I smelt the spring –
Not full-blown
Spring aroma,
But just a gentle
Carried on the breeze,
In the timid warmth
Of the March sun,
In the eager
Of sparrow and tit,
In the dampness
Of the grass
And the gurgle
Of the stream,
In the mellow
Of petal and bud.
I imagined it,
I thought,
But yesterday
I know
I smelt the spring –
I think.

  1. A lovely verse – yesterday was a funny day. We had clear blue skies and at the same time as snow was falling!!
Your images capture the beginning of spring beautifully

Thanks Angie – little warmth or sunshine today, but I think we are avoiding the expected snow showers after all. Did any of your snow stick?

  2. Come rain or shine, spring is definitely in the air…I was cutting back my roses today, warm sunshine on my back and was just happy!

Happy pottering about for me today, but without warm sunshine on my back! I just love walking through my early spring flowers, with or without sunshine 🙂

Lovely words… I smelt the Spring, too. I think. Maybe it was just my imagination… running away with me.

    • Cathy says:

Hi Carolyn – thanks for dropping and for your kind words. There was definitely something different on that day – but now we have snow and a cold easterly wind 😦
