Thanks Debbie – I am really pleased with it, particularly as it is all my own work and not done with the guidance of a professional like my acorn was

That is SOOO cool :)!!! I love it!

Thanks Anna – I love it too, and now I’ve completed it I can say that it looks far better than I could have expected when I started.

      • Anna B says:

Wow! I wasn’t sure if you’d made it yourself or not. Very impressive!! 🙂

Thanks – there was something very satisfying about gradually whittling the chunk of chestnut into something completely different. I think my next project will be a giant seed of some sort – not sure yet – or a handful of grain, that sort of thing.

Love the finish on it, very realistic.

Thanks. I was so pleased with the colour of the woodstain – if I hadn’t found such a good match it definitely wouldn’t have looked as effective. ‘Dark Mahogany’ though, not ‘Conker’! 🙂

What a project! I don’t have any experience with chestnuts, real or creative, but a neighbor took out a wall in his house and out fell bushels of chestnuts. He thought they ought to be called wall-nuts.

    • Cathy says:

🙂 We tend to find piles of empty hazel nuts in odd places in the garden that the squirrel has had – what creature do you think would have collected the chestnuts behind your neighbour’s wall? They obviously forgot to come back for them! I really enjoyed my conker project and am very pleased with the result as I am an absolute novice – the real ones are very tactile and I tend to pick them up and put them in my pocket, but my pockets aren’t deep enough for this!
